College Application Timeline (August–December)

Staying organized during senior year can help you meet important college application, financial aid, and scholarship deadlines. Use this timeline as a general guide and always verify deadlines with each college and scholarship provider.

Month What to Focus On
August Finalize your college list, create application accounts, request recommendation letters, begin drafting personal essays, and update your resume or activities list.
September Continue working on applications, visit colleges if possible, register for any remaining SAT or ACT exams, and research scholarships.
October Submit Early Action or Early Decision applications if applicable, complete the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available, and continue applying for scholarships.
November Meet early application deadlines, verify colleges have received required documents, and continue scholarship applications.
December Complete remaining college applications, review financial aid requirements, submit scholarship applications, and prepare for regular decision deadlines.

Tip: Deadlines vary by college and scholarship. Always confirm dates with each institution before submitting your application.
